I have been researching Apps to watermark my photos for Instagram and Pinterest. Before all the hoopla regarding Instagram’s Terms of Use confusion, I thought photographers and businesses should watermark their photos. I especially wanted a QR code on mine. If your business website’s QR code or Logo is on the picture, I say go for it Instagram, use the photos!
Thankfully I was fortunate to find the iWatermark App, which can be used on your iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. It was really easy to use. There are two versions, a free and paid.
Once the App is downloaded the process to create your Watermark is pretty simple. I recommend re-sizing your photos for Instagram before you create your Text Watermark or Graphic Watermark (QR Code/Logo). On my phone 612×612 is the perfect px size. Now you are ready!
You are able to create a text Watermark or the Graphic. These are the steps I took to create our Graphic Watermark:
- Select Photo or Take Photo
- The App offers generic Watermarks if you select the iWatermark Photo bar at this time. However, for business purposes it is best to create your own. Once you create and save your Watermark you will find it via this bar to use in the future.
- Choose Create Graphic Watermark
- Choose Edit
- Select QR Code
- Type your website URL
- Generate QR Code
- Edit
- Change the Opacity, Scale & Angle
- Save & Exit
Don’t forget to save and exit! You should now find your QR code in iWatermark Photo bar to use on all future images.
I have really enjoyed using this App. Do you Watermark your photos? If so which Apps do you use? Let me know if you have any questions.
Disclaimer: I created the Watermark for this tutorial using our business QR Code.

Girl this is very cool! I’m going to have to add this you have some great tips here :) xoxo
Thank you Ms. Lisa! Yes, I enjoy using it too!
So I have to resize my photos first, then watermark, save, THEN I can upload to instagram? Do you know if there’s any way to watermark my pics that are already on instagram? I may play around with watermarking before resizing & cropping and just make it small and toward the middle of what I think the finished photo will be.
Hi Leah! I always resized the pics for Instagram before I started using this app. I just found that it was easier that way to already have it at the 612×612 size for it to fit properly on Instagram. Let me know how it goes!

Great post, but i am wondering …. most instagram users browse photos by phone. How are they going to scan the QR code while they are looking at your photo ?
Maybe there is an app for that!! I don’t know of any phone that can scan on a website. Good idea I am sure it will be available in the future.
