To Tag or Not to Tag on Facebook

facebooktagging1

This little guy can tag me anytime he wants! However, I don’t like being tagged with photos of products or ads that have nothing to do with me.

Most people mean well, but there is something about finding posts that complete strangers (a.k.a. Facebook Friends!) have added on my profile that make me nervous. To avoid that from happening I edited my Privacy Settings.

Facebook changes things quite often, but for today this is what you will see when you edit your Timeline and Tagging Settings. I have it set so I am the only person that can post on my timeline and I review the tags before it appears on Facebook.

You don’t have to worry that you may miss something of value. Just click on your Activity Log and you will see your Timeline Review.

Here you can decide whether to Add to Timeline or not. It gives you more control of your Timeline. Well it makes me feel like I do!

I confess, I may have tagged family or friends a couple of times, but I normally steer clear of that. What about you? Do you mind being tagged? Why?

Ah, I have had my Facebook account set this way for quite some time now, for that very reason. I’ve also learned the importance of being sure when I do tag someone (such as family) that only they can see the image…because there is nothing like having a gazillion comments on a photo from people I don’t know. I learned that one the hard way ;-) Generally, I don’t tag people unless they are family.

Me too Mitzi. I just message them the photos, or info instead of on their walls. I was getting quite a few ads from people I didn’t even know. Thanks for stopping in!

If friends tag me I don’t mind …the majority of my friends on Facebook are people I’ve known for a long time! I have never been tagged in a spammy post…if that happens, they are toast!

I, in turn ask people when it’s a photo of a personal nature (such as a pic with them in it). AND…I post to “friends only” …always!

Thanks for the tip on approving tags Lisa …I’m sure a lot of people don’t know that. Will share your blog on my MODern Marketing 4 U Facebook page!

For some reason I was being tagged in a lot of spammy photos, etc. Not sure why!! Now when we share photos and such I just private message them. I also have an album just for family to see on my profile. Thank you for always supporting me Gerry. I appreciate you adding this on your Facebook page!
