When sharing someone’s blog posts I enjoy giving credit where credit is due. However, I have noticed that many times the tweet does not include the author’s Twitter handle or if it does have a handle it’s the plugin’s.
Here you can see how the plugin’s default Twitter handle automatically was tweeted when the post was shared, via @Shareaholic instead of via @YourTwitterHandle!
When I have the time I visit their website, find their twitter handle, copy/paste and add it to the tweet. Not many people have the time to do that for every blog post.
Whether using Shareaholic or Digg Digg to name a few, you can add your author handle to your tweets by going to the plugin’s settings on your blog.
Depending on the plugin that you use, you should find an area asking you to add the optional text at the end of your tweet. For example, on Shareaholic the location is “Configure Custom Tweet Template”.
Here is where you will add your twitter handle. Depending on your settings, your tweet should now include via @YourTwitterHandle or by @YourTwitterHandle. Please note, Digg Digg already has the default via included so you only have to add your twitter handle.
It should now look something like this!
This will save me so much time when I visit your blog and share your posts! If you have any tips for other plugins that you are using, please share them with us in the comment section below!
